7 Hydroxy is short for 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH), which is one of the primary active alkaloids found in the Kratom plant. Kratom itself is a leaf grown in Southeast Asia, part of the coffee family. Its scientific name is Mitragyna speciosa. Its leaves contain alkaloids, with mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine being the primary compounds.
Red-OH Hydroxymitragynine is around five times more potent than regular 7-Hydroxymitragynine. This increased potency comes from subtle chemical modifications that enhance its ability to bind to the receptors more, leading to a stronger experience. Despite this higher potency, Red-OH Hydroxymitragynine shares many similarities with the alkaloid profile found in the Red Vein kratom strain. The close resemblance makes Red-OH Hydroxymitragynine functionally comparable to the Red Vein strain, just with a much stronger action.
The primary difference between 7-Hydroxymitragynine and 11-Hydroxymitragynine is in their chemical structure, particularly the length of their binding chain. 11-Hydroxymitragynine has a slightly longer binding chain than 7-Hydroxymitragynine. This extended chain allows it to interact with receptors in the body for a longer period, which may result in a longer-lasting experience compared to 7-Hydroxymitragynine.
